We Celebrate Christ in Us, By Growing TOGETHER
We do this by offering two types of groups: Life Groups and Sprint Groups
Groups that intend to "do life" together over an extended period of time.
Small groups at Redeemer Lutheran Church allow members to experience the Spirit, the love and the power of God. Small group members enjoy each other and make a decision to commit to each other according to the God’s Word. Because of love, Christ was sacrificially committed to us. The faithful followers we are compelled to give what we have freely received; love. We actually desire to commit to others who are faithful. That may sound very odd. Many people are adverse to commitment and for many reasons. Our commitment is deep, and original. It isn’t perfect. But it is often wonderful. Here are ten characteristics of our groups and Bible verses from God’s Word that move us to be committed to each other:
1: We meet often (Hebrews 10:25).
2: We are real (James 5:15).
3: We strengthen each other other’s faith, (Romans1:12)… giving and receiving: encouragement (Eph. 4:29, 1 Thess. 5:14), accountability (Galatians 6:1, James 5:16), honor (Romans 12:10).
4: We are considerate (Titus 3:2).
5: We support one another when there’s a need or pain (Colossians 3:12).
7: We are humble (1 Peter 5:5)
8: Since we are all imperfect, we are committed to have mercy on one another (Colossians 3:13).
9: We make our relationships totally safe with confidentiality (Proverbs 11:13) and
10: We choose to be Together, as the early church was, which you may read the first five chapters of Acts “They were of one accord. They were unified… They were all together… They were of one heart… of one spirit.”
Maybe you HAVE a great group of friends…
• They love you the way you are, you can be yourself
• You can tell them if you have questions or doubts about God
• You are safe enough to share life’s challenges
• They support and encourage you
• You grow in your Christian faith and as a disciple when you are with them
Maybe you DON’T have a group of friends like that…
Maybe you’re hungry for some real relationships with Christ at the center. Some of here this morning would really like to be part of something like that…
Redeemer currently has 16 Life Groups. Couples (7), Men (3), Women (3), General (2), and Support (1). These groups embody the depth of relationships and purpose God’s Word leads us into.
Redeemer will also begin several new LIFE GROUPS in the coming weeks. Are you interested in learning more or receiving an email specifically notifying you of upcoming groups? Contact Jeff Shoumaker at 691-2333 ext. 14 or email@example.com.
Groups that intend to "do life" together over a short period of time.
Sprint Groups are Redeemer groups that meet at Redeemer or in convenient locations to learn more about the Bible, grow in their faith, and meet some great new friends.
When you sign up, the Small Group Director, or your new Sprint Group facilitator will contact you with information about your Sprint Group’s meeting place, the date and time you’ll be starting on, and all the other information you’ll need to have a great experience.
Sprint Groups meet once a week, and each meeting is about one hour long. Groups meet for several weeks depending on the curriculum. So, it’s a short-term commitment but the positive impact on your life will be long-term.
Look around at a weekend service. A Sprint Group is most often a small group of people who attend Redeemer. If you have been away for a while, you may want to blink a couple times. We are growing into a more diverse population and finding it be a very satisfying experience. You’re going to like it.
Over time, there certainly will be, if there isn’t already. We’ll offer a variety of topics which will feed your soul and give you the opportunity to share your life experiences with others who have similar ones.
Absolutely! Invite as many friends, co-workers, neighbors, family, etc. that aren’t connected to another church as you like. Our Sprint Groups are designed to get people connected to our church and to one another. The more people you invite to join your group, the better your group will be.
